Presentation of a new book on the Woollen Mills of Wales with author Branwen Davies and photographer Iestyn Hughes.

I ddathlu Dydd Gŵyl Dewi eleni mae Gwasg Gomer yn cyhoeddi cyfrol newydd am hanes melinau gwlân eiconig Cymru  –  Melinau Gwlân/ Woollen Mills of Wales.

Yn y gyfrol ddwyieithog hon gan yr awdur Branwen Davies a’r ffotograffydd Iestyn Hughes, cawn ddarlun o rai o fannau mwyaf hanesyddol, lliwgar a chreadigol Cymru mewn gair a llun.

Ar un adeg, bu’r melinau gwlân wrth galon cymunedau gwledig Cymru; erbyn heddiw, nifer fach sydd wedi gorosesi.

Yn ystod y blynyddoedd diwethaf mae awch pobl am gynnyrch traddodiadol, naturiol o’r safon uchaf wedi ailgydio ac mae tarddle nwyddau wedi dod i ystyriaeth hollbwysig i gwsmeriaid. Mae ymateb positif y diwydiant gwlân yng Nghymru i’r galw hwn wedi bod yn hanfodol i ffyniant y melinau presennol.

Â’r diwydiant gwlân yn rhan o hanes ei theulu dywedodd Branwen,

“Mae gan bob melin ei stori unigryw a does dim dwy ohonynt yn debyg. Megis eu perchnogion, mae gan bob melin ei gwedd a’i phersonoliaeth ei hun –  mae rhai’n hen, rhai’n newydd, rhai’n fawr, rhai’n fach. Sut bynnag, yr hyn sy’n gyffredin i bob un ohonynt yw creadigrwydd, dycnwch, angerdd, styfnigrwydd a chrefft y bobl hynny sy’n cadw’r diwydiant yn fyw.”

Mae’r llyfr yn llawn lluniau chwaethus, cyfoes o gynnyrch presennol y melinau, lluniau o’r adeiladau a’r peiriannau a theimlad o’r awyrgylch ynghyd  â darluniau o’r wynebau sy’n gweithio yn y diwydiant.Baner_Melinau_Gwl_n_fersiwn_gwefan.jpg

Dewch i gael cip ar y mannau a’r unigolion sy’n gwneud hud a lledrith  –  lle mae gwlân amrwd yn cael ei weddnewid yn nwyddau hardd a chwaethus.
