“The Boy From Elsewhere” – an afternoon of poetry and reminiscence by Nicholas McGaughey. Sunday April 29th 15:30 Fountain Fine Art Gallery

Book Tickets: £8

In the reading Nicholas will read his poetry about his life growing up in Cwmrhydyceirw, Swansea and living in the Valleys and some of the extraordinary people that he knows there. There are also tales to be told about his life on the road as an actor with the RSC and The Royal National Theatre, where he played 1st Voice in an all singing, all flying production of “Under Milk Wood”…where he fell down a trap door mid performance..
Then hear about “Gladiator” and how he killed Ollie Reed…..Who was already dead!
His ten years as a soap star playing the dim but likeable Brandon Monk in Pobol y Cwm….

Most of Nick’s poems are little stories that he has picked up along the way, little bits of fluff that he weaves into a slightly holey pullover…always humorous…not always intentionally so.

Nick’s poems have appeared in many magazines and anthologies including Poetry Salzburg Review/Popshot Magazine/A New Ulster/Envoi/Poetry News/Dream Catcher/“Dusk” Anthology/The Welsh Poetry Competition Anthology and The Poetry Shed.

Dydd Sul Ebrill 29ain 15.30 Oriel y Ffynnon
“The Boy From Elsewhere” – prynhawn o farddoniaeth a chofio gyda Nicholas McGaughey.

Bydd Nicholas yn darllen ei farddoniaeth am dyfu lan yng Nghwmrhydyceirw ger Abertawe, am fyw yn y cymoedd ac am rai o’r bobl anghyffredin mae e’n adnabod. Bydd hefyd yn adrodd straeon am ei fywyd fel actor teithiol gyda’r RSC a’r Theatr Genedlaethol Frenhinol pan fu’n cymryd rhan y llais cyntaf mewn cynhyrchiad o “Dan y Wenallt” pan syrthiodd trwy ddrws yn y llawr yng nghanol perfformiad. Cewch glywed hefyd am ffilm “Gladiator” a sut lladdodd e’ Oliver Reed…a oedd eisoes wedi marw! Roedd hefyd yn seren cyfres sebon Pobl y Cwm yn chwarae rhan y twpsyn hoffus Brandon Monk.

Mae’r rhan fwyaf o gerddi Nick yn straeon bychain y mae wedi eu casglu ar hyd y ffordd, darnau o wlân y mae’n eu gweu yn siwmper tyllog…pob amser yn ddoniol…ond nid wastad yn fwriadol.

Ymddangosodd cerddi Nick mewn nifer o gylchgronau a chasgliadau gan gynnwys Poetry Salzburg Review/Popshot Magazine/A New Ulster/Envoi/Poetry News/Dream Catcher/“Dusk” Anthology/The Welsh Poetry Competition Anthology aThe Poetry Shed.
